Four More Killed In Suspected Mafia Hits

Compiled From Wire Services

Suspected Mafia gunmen killed four more people in Sicily on Monday, including the reported nephew of a prominent mob turncoat, Tommaso Buscetta.

Mafia-affiliated gunmen have killed at least 10 people on Sicily in the past six weeks. Authorities fear the slayings mark an offensive against Mafia informers.

Domenico Buscetta, 45, was shot and killed outside his glass and crystal shop Monday. News agencies said he was the nephew of Tommaso Buscetta, whose testimony has helped jail scores of Mafiosi here and in the United States.

Tommaso Buscetta saw at least nine other relatives killed by Mafia hit men, including Domenico’s father and brother, in the years before he turned state’s evidence.

Buscetta now lives in the United States under an assumed identity.
