Girl Discovers Human Skull, Leg Bone At Lyle Lake
A human skull and a leg bone have been found at Lyle Lake, the Adams County sheriff said.
An 8-year-old girl found the skull in shallow water Sunday.
Searchers returned to the location Monday. The femur was found near the spot where the skull had been, but nothing else, Sheriff Mike Kline said.
The search has been suspended, he said Tuesday.
“The chances of finding more in the mud and muck and whatnot are slim. And right now we’re not going to dedicate any more resources to it,” Kline said.
The bones may have been at the lake for a year or more, he said. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
Forensic specialists will examine the remains this week in Spokane.
