At a glance: It was a long bus ride for the Chiefs, who left for the far north and Prince George after Wednesday night’s tough 1-0 loss to Tacoma. Chiefs can clinch fifth place in the WHL West with a win over the lastplace Cougs, who are a lame 1-15 since last month’s flurry of personnel moves at the trade deadline. Daniel is bidding to become the first Chiefs goaltender with a .900 saves percentage. The club record is Troy Gamble’s .895 in the ‘87-88 season. Daniel is currently at .900 after a brilliant game Wednesday night. Also within Daniel’s reach is Gamble’s club record for saves (2,007). Podollan, who has gone five games without a point, is capable of big numbers down the stretch as Chiefs close the regular season with four of their last six games against Prince George, which was eliminated from playoff contention on Wednesday night. Dowhy is back after a one-game suspension and Souray (shoulder) may play. If the season ended today, Spokane’s first-round playoff opponents would be Seattle and Tri-City. That’s probably the way it’ll look in two weeks when the playoffs open.
