Panel Oks Bill To Let Ski Resorts Sell Liquor

From Staff And Wire Reports

A bill to allow some ski resorts to serve liquor was approved Thursday by the House State Affairs Committee.

Rep. Tom Dorr, R-Post Falls, attacked the plan.

Though the bill wouldn’t affect any North Idaho resorts, Dorr voted against it because of concerns about drinking and driving.

“It’s just so hazardous,” Dorr said.

But Rep. Jim Stoicheff, D-Sandpoint, said the bill wouldn’t have a significant effect on drinking at ski lodges.

The bill would allow any resort with more than 250 skiable acres and two or more chair lifts to sell liquor, if the resort also sells food.
