Sailing on the final day in the fourth round-robin of the America’s Cup defender series was canceled because of heavy winds.

Pact 95’s Young America was scheduled to meet Team Dennis Conner’s Stars & Stripes. But before the start of the match, winds were measured at more than 20 knots, the maximum allowed.

Doug Swingley was the first musher in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race to reach the Yukon River village of Anvik, Alaska, arriving a half-hour ahead of defending champion Martin Buser.

Swingley, from Simms, Mont., won $3,500 in cash. Added to his halfway prize money, he has already pocketed $6,500 with more than 500 miles to go before the finish in Nome.
