Protection For Skis, Poles Is In The Bag

Michael Hodgson Special To Outdoors

Product: Glissade Double Ski Bag

Description: A black Ballistic nylon exterior with black Cordura nylon lining ski bag designed to hold skis up to 215cm.

Pro: You won’t find a better ski bag. The Glissade is reinforced with Textaline (a nylon-lined fiberglass mesh) whereever abrasion is most likely to occur - at each end and in the middle where bindings rub and grind. The bag is separated into two compartments by a full-length foam-padded divider. Each compartment is large enough to hold a pair of alpine skies or several pairs of nordic skis - I loaded my two metal-edged telemark skis on one side and a pair of skating skis and touring skis on the other with no trouble. The divider doubles as a pocket large enough to accommodate three to four pairs of ski poles. The bag’s outer layer is also foam-padded which means you won’t have to wrap foam or clothing around your skis to protect them as you do in a lesser bag. Construction is very durable. The full-length zipper is as heavy-duty as they come. Four compression straps keep your gear safely stowed and held firmly in place even when the bag isn’t loaded to capacity. The accessory pockets are plenty large and suitable for nordic ski boots, gloves, goggles and other accessory items. Downhill boots will have to travel separately.

Con: OK, so the bag is expensive. But think about the alternative. You spend all that money on your skis and poles, so why try to save a few bucks on a skimpy ski bag that will have all the baggage handlers from Denver to Zurich salivating with breakage anticipation? This bag is worth every penny.

Comments: The perfect protective bag made for skiers by a skier.

Suggested retail: $130; A longer bag accommodating skis up to 270cm is available and costs $170.
