Harshman Named

Marv Harshman, who coached at Pacific Lutheran, Washington State and Washington, received the NABC Golden Anniversary Award for 50 years of service.

Pete Maravich and Calvin Murphy, two of the greatest college scorers, led the 1995 Silver Anniversary All-America team selected by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

Charlie Scott, Jim McMillian and Perry Wallace also were chosen from the class of 1970.

Mark Bernsen, unable to match the standards set by his predecessor, Charlie Spoonhour, resigned under pressure as basketball coach at Southwest Missouri State.

The University of Tennessee added an extra year to basketball coach Kevin O’Neill’s five-year contract, taking it through the 1999-2000 season.
