Rep. Enid Greene Waldholtz of Utah is expecting a baby in late September, which would make her the second woman in history to give birth while serving in Congress.
The freshman Republican said Monday she will stay on the job.
The first woman to have a baby while in office was former Rep. Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, a California Democrat who served in the 1970s.
Waldholtz noted that about 60 percent of Utah mothers with small children work outside the home, “so we’re not doing anything different from what a lot of Utah families deal with every single day.”
sponsored According to two 2015 surveys, 62 percent of Americans do not have enough savings to handle an unexpected emergency, much less any long-term plans.
