Lc, Cda Boys Spring Into Soccer

The majority of boys high school soccer teams in Idaho play in the fall, but Panhandle teams hold their official season in the spring.

Play this season will involve six teams in a loosely organized league. Joining Lake City, Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint are Bonners Ferry, Moscow and Lewiston, which will field its first team.

Lake City will be the team to beat, as the T-Wolves inherited most of the talent from the split with Coeur d’Alene.

The Timberwolves are led by senior Robin Bundy, the most valuable player at state last fall; alltournament selections Chad Beadell and Mike Thompson, both juniors; senior Jared Duchow; and sophomore Dan Clark.

Coeur d’Alene is led by senior Brett Fink and sophomore Ben Davis.

Both teams open play Friday. Lake City entertains Kennewick (Wash.) at Hayden Meadows Elementary field, while Coeur d’Alene takes on Kennewick’s sister school, Kamiakin, at Canfield Middle School field. Both matches begin at 4 p.m.

The teams swap opponents Saturday morning, with matches beginning at 11.

In the first of two regular-season matches, Lake City and Coeur d’Alene play Tuesday at 4 at Canfield.

The Coeur d’Alene High softball team launches its fastpitch season today when it entertains Cheney at 3:30. The single game will be played at Ramsey Field but could be moved to Memorial Field due to weather conditions.
