A. Edgar Langston Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for A. Edgar “Ed” Langston will begin at noon Friday at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Langston died Sunday at Pinewood Care Center in Coeur d’Alene of Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born in Calgary, Alberta, and attended schools there. He played professional football for the Calgary Broncs and the University of Alberta.

Mr. Langston served in the Canadian military as a major, chief instructor and second in command of the Canadian Battle Drill Training Centre. He also served as second in command for Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry during the Italian Campaign, World War II.

After the war he obtained a degree in mining engineering and became mine superintendent of Montana Phosphate Products Inc. He worked in the mining industry until 1962.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1958 and was owner-manager of Amex Inc. for 22 years.

He was a member of the Rotary, the Kiwanis, the Hayden Lake Country Club, the Spokane Club, the Spokane Knife and Fork Club, the Elks Lodge, Calam Temple, the Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodge, the Jesters Court No. 62, the Octocycleers and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. He was also past president of the Coeur d’Alene and Spokane sections of the American Association of Mining Engineers.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Langston; two daughters, Susan Dennis and Sandy Goedde; and four grandchildren.

Mina Joyce Coeur d’Alene

Service for Mina J. Joyce is set for 10 a.m. Monday at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Pioneer Memorial Gardens in Moses Lake.

Mrs. Joyce, 85, died Tuesday at Sunset Terrace Nursing Home in Coeur d’Alene.

She was born in Coeur d’Alene and had lived in Moses Lake for about 20 years as an adult before moving back to Coeur d’Alene in 1989.

She married Leonard Joyce in 1942 in Sandpoint. He preceded her in death.

She worked in the shipping yards during World War II. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include one stepson, Leonard Joyce of Seattle; one stepdaughter, Peggy Hill of Moses Lake; two brothers, Frans Hanson and Oscar Hanson, both of Coeur d’Alene; five grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren.

Joy Sinzdak Sandpoint

A private family service will be held for Joy Louise Sinzdak, 68, who died Monday in Sandpoint.

Mrs. Sinzdak was born in Sandpoint and graduated from high school there.

She worked as a licensed practical nurse and enjoyed knitting and decorating.

She married Frank Sinzdak in 1954 in Sandpoint. He died in 1986.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Sinzdak and Ernie Sinzdak, both of Sandpoint, and Jim Sinzdak of Spokane; her mother, Linda Culley of Sandpoint; three sisters, Lois Weisz, Evelyn Finney and Carolyn Brown, all of Sandpoint; and one brother, Roy Culley of Pasco.

Barbara Gaage Post Falls

Burial for Barbara Patricia Gaage, 57, will be at Osseo, Minn. English Funeral Chapel, Post Falls, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gaage, a homemaker, died Monday at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

She was born in Osseo and had lived most of her life in Minnesota. She moved to Post Falls 15 years ago from Rogers, Minn.

She loved to do needlework and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Gerald Gaage; one son, Francis Lund of Sauk Rapids, Minn.; two daughters, Brenda Keeton of Becker, Minn., and Betty Johnson of Big Lake, Minn.; four brothers, Alvin Mastley and Victor Mastley of Osseo, Mel Mastley of Hamel, Minn., and Earl Mastley of Marietta, Ga.; three sisters, Betty Shore of Osseo, Rita Nadeau of Champlin, Minn., and Laverna VonEnde of Roseau, Minn.; and nine grandchildren.

Robert Mangini Sandpoint

Memorial service for Robert Gaylord Mangini, 53, will begin at 11 a.m. today at the United Methodist Church, Sandpoint.

Mr. Mangini died Sunday at the log home he’d built in Sandpoint.

He was born in Concord, Calif. He worked for 16 years as a firefighter and senior fire inspector in California before retiring in 1980. In 1983 he moved to Sandpoint with his family.

He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed genealogy, photography and sports. He served as treasurer and trustee for the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Rose Ann; one son, Tony Mangini, and one daughter, Loretta Mangini, both of Moscow, Idaho; his mother, Mary Mangini of Pioneer, Calif.; one sister, Barbara Doty of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and one brother, Larry Mangini of Clayton, Calif.

Pearl Havens Spokane

Service for Pearl Evelyn (Fisher) Havens, 82, will be at noon Friday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Havens, who died Monday, was born in Ruby, Wash.

She worked as a cook in Ione, Wash., Moscow, Idaho, and Spokane, where she had lived for 52 years

Her husband, Donald Havens, died in 1988. She is survived by one son, Gerald Havens of Millwood; two daughters, Margaret Gates of Moscow, Idaho, and Beverly Trampush of Spokane; one sister, Hazel Ballard of California; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Monte Miller Hayden Lake

A memorial service for Monte L. Miller, 87, will be held at a later date. He died Sunday at Sunset Terrace Convalescent Center in Coeur d’Alene.

He was born in Grangeville, Idaho.

Mr. Miller, a logger, married Edna Unthank in 1939 in Coeur d’Alene. He had been a caregiver for his wife for four years.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Edna; one daughter Jean Gustenburger of Trout Creek, Mont.; one brother, John Miller of Chattaroy; six grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren and seven great-greatgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Jessie Levey Sandpoint

Graveside service for Jessie C. Levey, 92, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens Cemetery, formerly known as Restlawn Cemetery, 7315 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Levey, a lifelong resident of the Inland Northwest, died Sunday in Sandpoint.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Levey. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Pamela Blass, Glengary, Idaho.

Inez Johnson Palouse, Wash.

Service for Inez Johnson, 95, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse.

Mrs. Johnson, who died Monday at home, was born in Potlatch, Idaho.

She and her husband, John Johnson, farmed on the family farm near Kamiak Butte south of Palouse. Her husband died in 1967 and she moved from the farm to Palouse in 1972.

She was a member of the Palouse Christian Church, the National Grange, the Palouse Grange, the Palouse Senior Citizens Club and the Help One Another Club.

Survivors include two sons, Neil Johnson of Pullman and Cecil Johnson of Othello, Wash.; one sister, Ruth Wysong of Palouse; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Palouse Emergency Medical Technicians, Palouse Community Center or the Palouse Senior Citizens Club.

Joseph Sweitzer Jr. Post Falls

Memorial service for Joseph Henry Sweitzer Jr., 46, is set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls.

Mr. Sweitzer died Tuesday at home of a heart attack.

He was born in Shelton, Wash., and moved to North Idaho in 1976. He married Zella Simons in 1992.

He worked for Templin’s Resort in maintenance for three years prior to his death.

He is survived by his wife, at home; one son, Chad Sweitzer of Shelton; one daughter, Kerry Hornbuckle of Hayden Lake; one stepdaughter, Tammi West of Spokane; two stepsons, James Zimprich of Susanville, Calif., and Tony Zimprich of Post Falls; his father, Joseph Sweitzer of Centralia, Wash.; one brother, Patrick Sweitzer of Post Falls; one sister, Cecilia Scott of Yakima; and eight grandchildren.

Frank Wilson Cheney

Service for Frank D. Wilson, 58, was held Tuesday at Cheney Funeral Chapel. Burial was at Garfield (Wash.) Cemetery.

Mr. Wilson, who died Friday, was born in Colfax, Wash.

He served in the Army and was discharged in 1962. He worked for farmers in the Garfield-Palouse, Wash., area.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Wilson’s survivors include his wife of 27 years, Donna Wilson; two sons, Bart Wilson of Medical Lake and Brett Wilson of LaCrosse, Wash.; two daughters, Nettie Wilson of Medical Lake and Barbara Lutz of Quincy, Wash.; three brothers, Floyd Wilson of Potlatch, Idaho, Alvin Wilson of Lewiston and Vernon Wilson of Palouse; and one sister, Myrtle Peterson of Colfax.

Vivian Riley Apache Junction, Ariz.

Family burial service for Vivian (Bolon) Riley, 95, will be held at Riverside Memorial Park.

Mrs. Riley died March 3 in Arizona, where she had lived since 1975. She was born in Valley, Wash.

She and her husband, Gilbert Riley, moved to Spokane in 1925 and operated Riley’s Fruit Stand at Division and Carlisle for 38 years. They retired in 1968.

Her husband died in 1971. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Teter of Paradise, Calif., and Darrell Teter of Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter, Virginia Dickey of Medford, Ore.; two sisters, Pina Stanford and Catherine Gilmore, both of Orofino, Idaho; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Gladys Richardson Spokane

Service for Gladys Ann Richardson, 84, is set for 10 a.m. Friday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Richardson died Sunday. She was born in White Ash Township, N.D., and graduated from high school in Donnybrook, N.D.

She and her husband, Glen Richardson, moved to Spokane from Anaconda, Mont., in 1939. She worked for Early Dawn Dairy for 20 years as a bookkeeper and retired in 1975.

She was a member of Opportunity Presbyterian Church and the Independent Order of Foresters.

Her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, Glen Richardson of California; four grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.

Evelyn Schultz Chelan, Wash.

Memorial service for Evelyn F. Schultz, 84, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Manson (Wash.) United Methodist Church. Precht Rose Chapel in Chelan is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Schultz, a former Spokane resident, died March 10. She was born in Brahman, Okla.

In 1920 she and her family moved to Kirkland, Wash., and in 1922 they moved to Manson, where she graduated from high school. She attended Washington State University.

Mrs. Schultz and her husband, Milford Schultz, operated Schultz Studio in Wenatchee. They moved to Spokane in 1942 and she worked as a financial secretary for St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. They returned to Manson in 1979.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years; a son, Kevin Schultz of Auburn, Wash.; a daughter, Linda Colman of Kettle Falls, Wash.; and five grandchildren.

Richard Butler Cheney

Funeral Mass for Richard T. “The Judge” Butler, 74, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes with burial at Newport Cemetery. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Butler, who was born in Spokane, died Friday. He had lived in Cheney for 70 years.

He was a quality controller for film processing and had worked for Kodak, Wayne’s Photo and Transamerica Film.

He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 11326.

He is survived by a cousin, Pauline Boissey of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia.
