All the hoopla surrounding the 125th anniversary of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus has obscured two marketing facts: The company will spend more on advertising this year - $25 million - than ever. And the renowned circus is introducing its first national ad campaign.

Ringling “is the greatest brand on earth,” said Allen J. Bloom, the circus’s marketing director.

“Our research has shown us that our name recognition is up there with Coca-Cola and Chevrolet,” he said. “We think it’s time to extend our brand.”
