Morgan St. Disciplined

Compiled From Wire Services

The NCAA placed Morgan State on probation for three years and banned the school from postseason play for one year for allowing ineligible players to practice and compete in eight sports.

Morgan State officials allowed ineligible part-time students and students who did not meet academic standards to compete in sports including football, basketball and tennis between 1989 and 1992, according to the NCAA Committee on Infractions.

The NCAA also reduced the number of scholarships the university can give for seven sports during the 1995-96 and 1996-97 academic years.
