Boy, 12, Reports Beating, Robbery

From Staff Reports

A 12-year-old Spokane boy was beaten and robbed on the city’s North Side on Friday night.

The boy told police four teenagers approached him about 8:30 p.m. and demanded money. When he refused, they pushed him to the ground and kicked him several times, said Spokane police spokesman Dick Cottam.

One of the four robbers picked up some money the victim had in his hand, and the assailants ran away.

A security officer from a nearby business drove the victim around the area to help him find the teenagers. They found them at the Fred Meyer store at Francis and Addison and called the police.

A 14-year-old was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on second-degree robbery.

The victim suffered bruises but was not taken to the hospital.
