Study Doubts Impact Of Alcoholic Parents

The Washington Post

College women whose parents are alcoholics have no higher rate of suffering from substance abuse or eating disorders than the general population. So finds a team of researchers from Texas Tech University, the University of Missouri in Columbia and the University of Southern California.

The study examined 291 women attending a private college in Iowa. The findings suggest that there is “no relationship between parental alcoholism and higher rates of eating disorders or symptoms of drug or alcohol use.”
