Library Will Offer Advice For Job-Searchers April 7-8

Ward Sanderson Correspondent

Since most folks searching for jobs don’t have a lot of change to spare, why all the spendy job seminars?

For those experiencing the job-search blues with flat wallets, the Spokane Public Library’s “Tricks of the Job Search” series should hit the spot. It’s free.

The two-day workshop series happens on April 7 and 8. Sessions start at 10 a.m. on both days. The first day’s sessions, on a Friday, conclude at 6 p.m.. The Saturday sessions finish at 3 p.m.

All will be led by employment strategist and career counselor Dick Merry, founder of RM & Associates in Everett.

Friday’s sessions begin with “The Hidden Job Market,” focusing on how to land hot jobs that often aren’t advertised. “Resumes and Cover Letters” follows at 1 p.m., giving job-seekers tips on writing their own resumes and saving a buck in the process.

Learn to get through all the red tape with “Applications” at 4 p.m.

Saturday’s sessions start off with “Interview Questions and Answers,” a review of the top 25 questions asked by interviewers. The series concludes with advice on appearance and presentation with “Interviews,” starting at 1 p.m.

Participants may attend any one or all sessions.
