Nationwide ‘First-Day’ Sale Slated
The Civil War set of commemorative postage stamps will go on sale nationwide June 29, rather than only in Gettysburg, Pa., the post office said Monday.
Normally new stamps are sold in one official “first-day” city the day they are issued and go on sale elsewhere the next day.
Azeezaly S. Jaffer, Postal Service manager of stamp sales, said the agency has had so many requests for firstday ceremonies it decided to make the stamps available everywhere the day they are issued.
