Baby Ryan Released; Fever May Have Been From Infection

From Staff And Wire Reports

Five-month-old Ryan Nguyen went home with his parents Tuesday after being hospitalized with a high fever last weekend.

Ryan’s fever, which was probably caused by an infection in his catheter line, was gone by Monday, said Sue Klein, spokeswoman at the Legacy Emanuel Children’s Hospital in Portland.

The hospitalization was Ryan’s first since going to live with his parents in Vancouver, Wash., on March 6. He’d been hospitalized since birth, first in Spokane at Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Ryan, who was diagnosed with a myriad of problems from kidney failure to possible brain damage, was flown to the Portland hospital after a dispute with Spokane doctors over his care.
