Business Leaders Back Recovery Plan

American and Canadian business leaders met with President Ernesto Zedillo on Wednesday and announced their support for his recovery plan.

Lobbying for renewed confidence, leaders of the American and Canadian chambers of commerce said Zedillo’s austerity measures are the best way to revive the economy.

“We believe that these adjustments will be short-lived and that the economy, fundamentally, is sound,” said Douglas Clarke, president of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
