Park’s Rides To Open Saturday

From Staff And Wire Reports

Get ready to get dizzy, Spokane. The tilt-a-whirl is back.

Riverfront Park’s amusement rides will open Saturday for what could be their last season in the Pavilion.

Earlier this month, the City Council approved a contract leasing the Pavilion to the Seattle-based Pacific Science Center. Construction on the science center could begin as early as spring 1996.

This summer, the dragon roller coaster, the Ferris wheel, the merry-go-round and the bumper boats are returning to the Pavilion, joining the 18-hole miniature golf course - with the world’s smallest floating green.

Rides and attractions will operate from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. On Memorial Day weekend, hours will expand to 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Season passes are on sale until May 31 for $22.95. Memberships include unlimited use of all attractions, including four first-run IMAX films and discounts on food and gifts.

Riverfront Park also is offering a corporate entertainment card for businesses. For more information, call 625-6632.
