California Mudslide

Associated Press

A massive mudslide deposited at least 14 feet of mud on the Pacific Coast Highway on Monday, closing all four lanes of traffic just before the evening rush hour.

The slide, which occurred in an area prone to erosion, blocked a twomile stretch of the highway near Santa Monica.

Witnesses said they did not believe anyone was trapped.
