Moore, Mills Pitch One-Hitters

Traci Moore’s one-hit pitching and Shannon Zahrowski’s two runscoring doubles led Rogers to a 3-0 victory over North Central on Monday in a makeup Greater Spokane League softball game.

Zahrowski, who had three hits, doubled in runs in the fourth, when the Pirates (2-0) also capitalized on two of four NC (1-1) errors, and the fifth. Moore struck out eight and walked three.

In another game rescheduled from Thursday, Central Valley (1-1) blanked Shadle Park (0-2) 9-0 on sophomore Tori Mills’ one-hitter.

Jessica Sackmann was 3 for 4 with three stolen bases for CV. Mills struck out four.

Chad Zlateff had three goals, the first 1 minute into the match, and Joe Ascolese and Ben Lambert two each as Gonzaga Prep belted Ferris 7-1.

Rich Cullen needed to make just four saves, and Mead came up with second-half goals by Jim Morton, on a breakaway, and Nick Hebb to shut out Central Valley 2-0.

University needed a shootout, winning it 4-2, to best visiting Shadle Park after the schools battled to a 1-1 tie. Andrew Gordon had the winner.

And North Central used its reserves liberally in an 8-0 win over Rogers, which was using its backup keeper after its starter had been redcarded in the previous match.

Binian Afengus, Cody Smith and Colin Turnbull scored two goals each for NC.
