Eight players from the Greater Spokane League and three from the Frontier League will headline the East team when the East/West All-Star Football Summer Classic moves to Spokane for the first time in 16 years.

The game, for Class AAA and AA players, was last played in Spokane in 1979. Played in Everett in recent years, it is scheduled for Friday, June 30, at 7:30 p.m. at Albi Stadium.

A game for Class A and B-11 players will be held a week earlier in Yakima.

Heading the local players is all-state kicker Randy Jones of Ferris. Other GSL players on the team are Matt Miethe of Rogers, Jimmy Lake of North Central, Jim Salters and Bob Strahl of Gonzaga Prep, Gunder Gregerson of Central Valley, Griffin Garske of Mead and Albert Mitchell of Ferris.

Soren Olson of Lewis and Clark and Ian Hughes of Central Valley were selected for the team, but are unable to play.

Replacing Hughes on the roster is Keith Osso of East Valley. The other Frontier players are Erich Hannan of Pullman and Jeremy Klug of Clarkston.

John Kane of Lewis and Clark, Bryan Olson of Ferris, Cory Smiley of Rogers, Rich Naccarato and Jeff Pilkington of Mead, Lance Hattemer of Cheney and Ray Kallaher of Pullman are on the alternate list.

An open house and banquet/roast for Pfeifer, who has coached football for 29 years, is scheduled May 6.

The open house is at the Ferris cafeteria from 2-5 p.m. The banquet/roast begins at 7 p.m. at the Shilo Inn, E923 3rd.
