Three CV Schools Hit By Power Outages

Three Central Valley schools had power outages Wednesday afternoon.

Bowdish and Horizon junior high schools and Chester Elementary School all will reopen today on normal schedules, said CV spokesman Skip Bonuccelli.

Students were released about 1:30 p.m. from Horizon because interior classrooms had no light. The school’s sewage pump also is on an electrical circuit and posed a potential health risk, Bonuccelli said.

At Chester Elementary, the effect was minimal as students were sent home early due to teacher conferences.

Students were not sent home from Bowdish because windows provided enough light.

Inland Power and Light crews restored power to all three schools later Wednesday afternoon.

Officials from Inland were not available to explain why the outage occurred.
