Traci Moore Rogers Year: Senior Sport: Softball Event: Pitcher

Rogers softball pitcher Traci Moore doesn’t pick up where she leaves off. She gets better.

“She’s picked up her speed from last year,” Rogers coach Paul Cooley said. “But her greatest asset is her ability to spot the ball to the point where the majority of the time she’s either striking out batters or getting them to ground out or pop up.

Maybe it’s only fitting that Moore, a senior, doesn’t say much about her dominance on the mound. When looking at the Pirates’ 3-0 start, Moore’s right arm tells the story.

“She is a true pitcher. Her personality dictates that. She’s so modest that she sometimes seems embarrassed when you say good things about her,” Cooley said.

Moore sports a 3-0 record, with one of those games being a no-hitter in a 9-2 win over Central Valley. She also had eight strikeouts in a 3-0 win against North Central.

While her collegiate plans have yet to be determined, Cooley has received inquiries about Moore from more than 30 colleges and universities.

“We get calls and mail from schools in Florida, New Jersey, Mississippi - there is a lot of interest in her,” he said.
