Crime Pays For Gulf Usa

Gulf USA Corp. retirees got the shaft pure and simple.

Officials and attorneys who picked over the bones of this erstwhile corporate giant didn’t leave much for those who depend on their meager pensions and health benefits.

Still, pensioners are better off than investors, who will receive back only 4 cents on the dollar. The public is stuck, too. Taxpayers must clean up Gulf’s share of the Bunker Hill Superfund site.

The only winners in this sad bankruptcy fiasco are the corporate fat cats who skipped the country for high-living elsewhere. And the lawyers.

Who says (corporate) crime doesn’t pay?
