Hiker Rescued

From Staff Reports

A hiker who fell into Lake Pend Oreille was rescued Saturday evening with the help of a U.S. Postal Service boat.

Joe Graham, 23, of Post Falls, fell into the water late in the afternoon at Button Hook Bay, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department.

Graham managed to get out of the water, but was severely chilled and developed hypothermia, according to the sheriff’s department.

Using a mail boat, deputies transported him from an isolated beach to a boat launch. Graham then was taken to Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene. He was released after treatment.
