Cops To Get $15 Million To Hire, Train Veterans
The Pentagon is making $15 million available to police departments to train veterans as police officers.
About 7,700 law enforcement agencies may be eligible.
The program will provide up to $5,000 to train each veteran hired this year. The program is part of President Clinton’s effort to put 100,000 more police on the streets.To be eligible, veterans must have served in the military on or after Oct. 1, 1993.
