You Could Be King Of The Lilacs

We know Carrie Keyes of Shadle Park was crowned Lilac Queen on April 22, but all of Spokane is still breathlessly awaiting the naming of its first Lilac King.

Right? Well, maybe. In any case, time is running out for Spokane-area guys who want to be in on the Lilac action this spring.

Our Generation is extending its deadline for entries for our once-in-a-lifetime Lilac King contest to Friday, just to give all you procrastinating guys a chance. Here’s the scoop: Write us a short essay (about 250 words) about why you want to be Lilac King. Any teen boy is eligible; you don’t have to be a senior. Be as silly and creative as you want; it will boost your chances of winning.

Send your essay, with your name, age, school and phone number, to Our Generation, Lilac King, 999 W. Riverside, Spokane, WA 99210-1615. It must be postmarked by May 5. We’ll announce the King in the May 17 issue of Our Generation.

Are you out there?: Hey all you Clinton fans, it’s time to meet up with your favorite political party: the Democrats. The Young Democrats of Washington (YDW) is holding their annual convention May 12-14 in Pasco.

The cost of the conference is $30; it’s for people between 14 and 35. Interested? Call Andrew Noble at (509) 527-5471.

Last chance: If you’re more interested in art than in Democrats, you’re also in luck. The Chase Youth Commission is looking for talented young artists (18 and under) to create the cover design of the KidsWeek ‘95 events and activity guide as well as the design for KidsWeek T-Shirts. All entries must be received by Friday.
