Mead Hotline

Mead school officials and parents, hoping to make it more difficult for students to break school rules, opened the Mead Safe Schools Hotline this week.

The hotline is a way for students, parents and teachers to anonymously report students who may have drugs, alcohol or weapons at school

“It’s a way for kids to squeal on kids - if you want to use that word,” parent Luisa Paolone said.

The hotline will be answered by school district secretaries during office hours and by an answering machine in the evening. The secretaries will ask callers a set series of questions designed to get as much information about the report.

The hotline number is 468-3099.

The hotline is the first of its kind operated by Spokane area schools, Mead officials said.<
