Former Cop Sentenced For Tipping Off Dealers

Compiled From Wire Services

A former Miami police officer was sentenced Thursday to more than 24 years in prison for tipping off a cocaine ring about anti-drug operations in exchange for cash, liquor and women.

Reynaldo Rodriguez, 34, an eight-year veteran of the force, was convicted along with 12 other people in December of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

The sentence by U.S. District Judge K. Michael Moore requires that Rodriguez serve at least 20 years and eight months.

Four of the 13 convicted now have been sentenced.
