Lions Club Raising Funds For Blind

Compiled From Wire Services

Lions Club members will hand out white canes and collect money for the blind today and Saturday in Spokane and North Idaho.

Donations will go to the Lions Eye Bank at the University of Washington and the satellite Eye Bank and Lions Low Vision Clinic in Spokane, according to a statement issued by the organization.

Local Lions Club members always are on call to pick up donated corneas and take them to the airport. Seattle area Lions Club members then deliver the corneas to the University of Washington Eye Bank for testing. From there, corneas are matched with waiting recipients.

Money raised promotes cornea transplants in Washington, Idaho and Alaska.
