Gop Plans To Slow Medicare Growth

House Republican leaders’ longpromised plan to balance the budget relies on slowing the growth of Medicare and Medicaid, elimination of three Cabinet-level agencies and the closing of numerous tax loopholes.

The measure was described by House members who attended a three-day strategy retreat in Leesburg, Va., that ended Friday. The House Budget Committee plans to vote on the plan Wednesday.
