Police Find Drugs In Baby’s Car Seat

Three people driving a stolen car early Friday were arrested by a Washington State Patrol trooper, who also found drugs hidden in an infant’s safety seat.

Brenda Brissonette, 32, of Portland; Michelle Dixon, 26, of Helena; and Jose Ramos-Perez, 21, of Portland were arrested on charges of possession of stolen property and were booked into the Spokane County Jail.

The trio was eastbound on Interstate 90 near Barker Road about 1:25 a.m. when Trooper Robert Noack ran a check on the car’s Montana license plates.

The Chevrolet Monte Carlo was reported stolen in Helena, apparently from Dixon’s boyfriend. Noack pulled them over and found a 4-month-old baby boy in the back seat with Ramos-Perez.

The three were arrested, and Noack called for Child Protective Services to take the child. As the baby was lifted out of his car seat, Noack found 113 grams of marijuana and an electric scale hidden under the cushion, said WSP spokesman Sgt. Chris Powell.

Possession of more than 40 grams of drugs is a felony in Washington.

In addition to the stolen property charge, Ramos-Perez was booked for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. Other drug charges against the two women may follow, Powell said.

Dixon also was arrested on two unrelated warrants. The group told troopers they were on their way to Helena.
