Suspected Gas Leak Levels House

An explosion heard miles away destroyed a house in suburban Toronto late Friday and set four others on fire. Fire officials said three people were missing and police said six were injured.

The cause of the blast was not immediately known, but police said they suspected a gas leak.

“It was like an earthquake,” said Jason Gautreau, a resident of suburban Scarborough. “The house that blew up - it isn’t there, it’s gone.”
