Neo-Nazis, Leftists Clash In Munich
Leftists silently marched past a neo-Nazi rally Saturday, and 20 people were arrested in fighting that broke out between the groups. At least two people were injured.
Both groups were marking the 50th anniversary Monday of Germany’s World War II defeat. Police said 60 members of the National Democratic Party had gathered when the 100 marchers appeared.
All but one of those arrested were leftists, police said. The other was a neo-Nazi who gave the stiff-armed Hitler salute to the marchers.
Meanwhile, vandals in Berlin overturned 103 gravestones of people victimized by the Nazis during the war. No arrests were immediately made.
