Minnesota Chases Jets
Gov. Arne Carlson ridiculed a new proposal to help bring the Winnipeg Jets to Minnesota while he continued trying to build support for his own plan.
A bipartisan group of lawmakers introduced a video gambling bill they said would raise an estimated $250 million a year, part of which could be used to assist a private buyer in bringing the NHL back to the Twin Cities.
The plan would put video gambling machines in bars and restaurants throughout the state. Carlson wants to sell bonds that would be paid for with tax revenues from the Jets.
