Deutch To Take Helm Of Cia Today

Boston Globe

With a unanimous vote in the U.S. Senate and a mandate to shake up the Central Intelligence Agency, John M. Deutch will take over the troubled agency today as its sixth director in 10 years.

Deutch said again Tuesday that he would make personnel changes at the highest levels of the agency “within weeks” but wanted to avoid a divisive bloodletting and would work with employees on changes.

“I’m looking forward to going over there and taking care of what I regard as a national treasure,” said Deutch.
