Nbc Plans Short Special

Philadelphia Inquirer

Martin Short will return to NBC May 20 with a 90-minute special based on his short-lived “Martin Short Show.” It’s slated for “Saturday Night Live’s” 11:30 p.m. slot, Short’s former home.

Short’s new sitcom was put out of its misery in the fall after just three of 12 ordered episodes. Three others were in the can. The special will include skits from those as well as new material with Short and his former co-star, Jan Hooks.

The guest list features Phil Hartman (“NewsRadio”), Bruno Kirby (“City Slickers”), and Harry Shearer (“The Simpsons.”) If the show does well, it may return as a series of late-night specials.
