Minnesota Close To Jets

Compiled From Wire Services

Minnesota Gov. Arne Carlson’s rally this afternoon to build support for his plan to buy the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League could turn into a celebration.

An agreement in principle to move the Jets to Minnesota could be announced today, and probably before week’s end.

“I would say it is imminent,” Target Center executive director Dana Warg said.

By the time the Quebec Nordiques return home for Game 5 of their playoff series with the New York Rangers, they could be the Denver Nordiques.

Within a matter of days, maybe hours, shareholders could accept a standing offer of $75 million from Comsat Video Enterprises of Denver.

Ross Perot Jr., the son of the former presidential candidate, wants to become as much as a 50-percent owner of the Dallas Stars and invest $30 million in the franchise.
