Compiled By Mary Beth Donelan.

The Washington Commission for the Humanities has selected new speakers for its Inquiring Mind humanities speakers bureau. Among those selected, three were from Spokane: Sara Edlin-Marlowe, an actress, radio personality and director of theatre at Gonzaga University. Her Inquiring Mind topics for the lecture season are “Sacajawea” and “Georgia O’Keefe;” Anita Endrezze, a poet, fiction writer, artist, teacher, translator and storyteller selected “Song Maker: An Encounter with a poet,” as her topic; and Gordon Jackson, a professor in the Communications Studies Department at Whitworth College and a native of South Africa, chose “Beyond Apartheid: South Africa’s Quest for National Unity” and “Media Ethics - The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.”

The Lab Products Association sponsored David Auerbach of Spokane and two other science teachers to attend the 43rd National Science Teachers Association’s national convention in Philadelphia. They attended tours and sessions on the latest in science education. Auerback teaches the entire science curriculum at the Wellpinit School District.

The teams are eligible to compete at the world tournament in Knoxville, Tenn.
