River Habitat Restoration Workshop To Be Held Saturday

Property owners along the Little Spokane River are invited to a training workshop that will help them get involved in a program to restore river habitat.

The Little Spokane River Council has received a grant from the state to restore portions of the river from pasture to grassland. Part of the work involves an inventory of plant and wildlife communities along the corridor, which stretches from Deer Park to the Nine Mile Falls dam.

Two Eastern Washington University biologists will head up the workshop, which will teach hands-on techniques for doing the inventories.

The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Nine Mile Falls Community Center.

Those staying all day should bring a sack lunch.
