Forest Shooting Victim Was Man From Nevada

Washington County authorities say a Nevada man has been identified as the victim of a forest shooting last weekend.

Patrick John Epperson died at Advent Gulch, off Idaho Highway 71, west of Cambridge. Robert Lewis Spencer, 49, a Payette County resident, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Officers have refused to release details and Prosecutor Ira Burton declined to disclose Epperson’s age or home town.

The involuntary manslaughter charge alleges the shooting death was not intentional and was caused by operating a firearm in reckless or careless manner, Burton said. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 23.
