A new electronic sign on Interstate 90 will inform Valley motorists of accident locations and construction delays starting next month.
The state Department of Transportation plans to install the permanent variable message sign on westbound Interstate 90 near Park Road.
The 18-by-6-foot sign will alert motorists to pavement and weather conditions, and special traffic configurations for events such as Bloomsday, said Al Gilson, spokesman for the department.
Four other signs will be installed along Interstate 90 and U.S. Highway 2 in the Spokane area.
Seattle’s D.W. Close Co. is the contractor for the $600,000 project.
