Man Says Hitchhikers Stole 4x4

Sat., May 13, 1995

A Spokane man told police his car was stolen Thursday after he gave two hitchhikers a ride. The 43-year-old victim said he was driving near First and Napa when a man and woman asked for a ride. He allowed them into his pickup.

When they reached the area of Government Way and Greenwood, the woman ordered the victim out of the truck, saying her companion had a gun. The driver didn’t see a weapon, but he got out and the couple drove away, police said.

The truck is a gray 1989 Mazda 4x4 with Washington plates 73415T.

The woman was white, in her 20s, about 5-foot-6 with blond hair. The man was black, also in his 20s and about 6 feet tall. He wore jeans and a T-shirt.
