Three vehicle fires were reported in the Spokane Valley on Monday. A fire at about 12:30 p.m. caused about $1,100 worth of damage to a 1980 Dodge Colt.

Lillie Conrad, who lives on the 900 block of South Herald, called authorities when she noticed heavy black smoke coming from the inside of a car parked across the street at University High School.

Miranda Bradley, 17, who had driven the car to school, left school to wait for the firefighters.

A crew put out the fire with about 50 gallons of water.

Later Monday afternoon, an engine fire damaged a 1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z28.

Tara Warner, who lives on the 11000 block of East Fourth, was driving the car on the 700 block of North Argonne at about 3:30 p.m. when it caught fire.

Henry Williamson Jr. used a portable extinguisher to put out the fire.

Warner’s arms were slightly burned and her hair was singed.

About $500 worth of damage was limited to the carburetor and engine compartment.

On Monday evening, an engine fire caused about $2,500 worth of damage to a 1984 Ford Tempo.

Catherine Barton, who lives on the 8000 block of East Boone, is the owner of the car.
