Warm Weather Brings Out Road Construction Crews

Emi Endo Staff writer

Bright orange construction signs and cones will be coming out along with the summer sun.

Several road construction projects in the Spokane Valley are already under way. Others will soon begin.

Construction workers have put in sewer lines and are widening and resurfacing Sullivan Road from Interstate 90 to Sprague.

The $2 million project should last well into the summer, said Diana Sargent, of the county’s engineering and roads department.

Crews will be working through July on a sewer project in the area bound by 24th and 16th avenues and Evergreen and Pines roads, she said.

The $2.3 million project is for a development called Early Dawn.

In Liberty Lake, Mission Road and Country Vista will be paved.

The $875,000 project should be done by next month, Sargent said.

At least three other projects are scheduled to begin next month.

The $10 million Argonne Road project will take about two years. Crews will be building an underpass beneath the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks.

Passing trains now frequently disrupt traffic on Argonne Road.

Bids will open this month for a sewer project in the area bound by 16th and Fifth avenues and Bowdish and Pines roads.

The development is called Twin View.

And smaller street projects are also scheduled this summer in Liberty Lake. Third, Gage and Lee will be resurfaced.

The cost is about $88,000.
