Pac-10 Powers Advance

Heavy rains forced the men’s NCAA tennis championships indoors, where Stanford and UCLA advanced to the semifinals in Athens, Ga.

The Pac-10 rivals will meet today as UCLA seeks its first NCAA title since 1984.

Top-seeded Stanford swept the three singles matches against No. 7 Mississippi State in a 4-0 victory, while UCLA downed South Alabama 3-1.

Georgia advanced to play Mississippi in the semifinals by beating Texas Christian 4-1. Ole Miss downed Pepperdine 4-2 in the other quarterfinal.

At today’s women’s NCAA semifinals in Malibu, Calif., Texas will meet third-ranked Stanford and No. 2 Georgia will play Florida.
