Sex Offender Arrested After Rape Reported

Police arrested a man listed as a registered sex offender after a Spokane woman said she had been raped early Sunday.

Giovanni D. Pruitt, 19, of Pasco, was being held in Spokane County Jail Sunday night.

The woman told police she was raped about 3 a.m. at the West Wynn Motel, 2701 W. Sunset Blvd.

She was taken to Deaconess Medical Center.

Police said they plan to check with Franklin County authorities to see if Pruitt violated the terms of his release as a sex offender by being in Spokane.

Pruitt faces a second-degree rape charge and an unlawful imprisonment charge in Spokane. No bond has been set.
