Bonds Prevails In Settlement

National League

San Francisco Giants star Barry Bonds won’t have to split his property or his $44 million contract with his ex-wife, a judge ruled Monday in San Mateo, Calif.

A prenuptial agreement signed by Sun Bonds in February 1988 was valid, said Superior Court Judge Judith Kozloski.

“He’s very pleased,” said Robert Nachshin, lawyer for the 30-year-old outfielder. “He feels that the court confirmed his story. It was a cloud hanging over his head.”

Nachshin emphasized that Bonds’ wife and their two children, Nikolai, 5, and Shikari, 4, won’t be left penniless.

The judge has approved $30,000 a month in alimony and child support, although Sun Bonds’ attorneys have asked to increase that amount to $93,000.
