Public Asked To Submit Ideas For Festival Site

From Staff And Wire Reports

Friends of The Festival at Sandpoint want the public to help find a permanent site for the three-week summer concert series.

The festival will be allowed only two more seasons at its traditional Memorial Field venue. The show was kicked off the field by City Council members after neighbors complained about noise, traffic and claims the festival violates the residential zoning laws.

“We very much want to find a suitable location that is supported by the community, and the best way to start doing that is to ask for suggestions,” said Tony Saulino, co-chair of Friends of Sandpoint’s Festival.

Festival organizers already have 10 sites under consideration, including Schweitzer Mountain Resort, the Bonner County Fairgrounds and a budding sports complex in Ponderay. Other privately owned sites also are under consideration but the owners requested the areas remain confidential until a decision is made.

Anyone with site suggestions for the festival can contact Bob Bradley at 265-0128 or send a fax to 265-2490.
